Frequently Asked Questions

We built The Roper’s Advantage for serious ropers who want better practice, more consistency, and a training tool designed around real rodeo experience. Below are answers to some of the most common questions about the system.

The Roper’s Advantage is a stationary roping trainer designed to help ropers develop timing, position, and consistency through realistic practice. It allows ropers to use their own saddle while creating a training environment that closely matches the feel of competition.

Yes. The Roper’s Advantage is designed to hold your own roping saddle, allowing you to practice with the same seat position, stirrup length, horn position, and body mechanics you use when competing.

Yes. While The Roper’s Advantage was designed with calf ropers in mind, it is also an excellent training tool for breakaway ropers. The consistent angle, position, and delivery practice help breakaway ropers develop better timing and more repeatable mechanics.

The Roper’s Advantage was designed primarily for calf ropers who want to improve their timing, position, delivery, and consistency through purposeful practice. It is also a valuable training tool for breakaway ropers, youth rodeo athletes, college rodeo programs, and instructors who want to provide realistic practice opportunities without requiring a horse for every repetition.

The Roper’s Advantage uses an integrated hydraulic lift system that raises the entire unit onto its transport wheels. With the flip of a switch, the system allows one person to move the unit more easily without the need for heavy lifting.

Once raised into transport mode, The Roper’s Advantage can be moved using an ATV, UTV, or other utility vehicle around the arena or practice facility. For traveling between locations, the unit is designed to fit into the first stall of a standard horse trailer with the use of loading ramps, allowing you to transport it along with your horses and equipment.

Whether you are moving it across your property, setting up at the boxes, attending a clinic, or traveling to a new practice location, the hydraulic transport system makes relocation simple and efficient.

Yes. The hydraulic transport system was designed to reduce the physical effort required to move the unit. By lifting the unit onto its wheels, setup and repositioning become much easier for a single person.

No. The Roper’s Advantage is designed to complement your horse, not replace it. Great horses are built through good riding and experience, but quality practice repetitions are also essential for developing a roper’s skills.

The Roper’s Advantage allows you to work on timing, position, delivery, and consistency while reducing unnecessary miles on your horse.

Every great roper knows that improvement comes from repetition. The Roper’s Advantage allows you to focus on the mechanics of roping without always needing a horse available.

This gives ropers the ability to build confidence and muscle memory while saving their horses for the moments that matter most.

Yes. The Roper’s Advantage is especially valuable during times when horses are unavailable, such as winter months in colder climates, travel periods, or when horses need time off. It allows ropers to continue developing their skills and stay prepared year-round.

The Roper’s Advantage uses an integrated battery-powered hydraulic system with solar-assisted charging. The system is designed to provide convenient operation while allowing the unit to remain ready for use between practice sessions.

The Roper’s Advantage is built for long-term use with durable steel construction and a protective finish. Regular maintenance includes inspecting bolts and connections, keeping the solar panel clean, checking electrical connections, and ensuring moving components remain properly lubricated.

Yes. The Roper’s Advantage is designed for real-world ranch and rodeo environments. The heavy-duty steel construction and durable finish are built to handle regular use while protecting the equipment from normal outdoor conditions.

Yes. The Roper’s Advantage is designed for calf ropers of all skill levels—from beginners learning the fundamentals to seasoned competitors refining their technique.

Beginners can build confidence and develop proper muscle memory in a realistic practice environment, while experienced ropers can increase the number of quality repetitions they make without adding unnecessary runs to their horses. Whether you’re preparing for your first jackpot or your next rodeo, The Roper’s Advantage helps you practice with purpose.

Absolutely. While The Roper’s Advantage was designed as a serious training tool, it also creates a fun and competitive environment for jackpot-style challenges, team practices, clinics, and friendly competitions. Whether you’re keeping score between friends, hosting a club practice, or adding a new event to a clinic, it provides a realistic way to sharpen your skills while enjoying a little competition.

The Roper’s Advantage is designed with stability as a top priority.

For best results, back the unit into your roping chute and secure it using the adjustable chute attachment arm. Different attachment options are available to accommodate various chute styles and sizes, creating a solid connection while you practice.

For added stability, we recommend leaving the unit connected to your ATV or UTV during use. Combined with the wide steel base, this provides a secure platform for stepping off and making realistic runs.

The saddle is also stabilized with integrated D-rings, allowing it to be securely fastened during practice.

The large step platform gives ropers a solid footing when dismounting. For the smoothest transition, we recommend bringing your arena dirt level with the front edge of the platform to eliminate any step up or down.

When properly set up, The Roper’s Advantage provides a stable, realistic training experience designed to simulate competition while helping reduce unnecessary repetitions on your horse.
